We are a home that cares for children and adolescents who have suffered situations of neglect, abuse, violence or omission of care. The core of our care model is the person, that is, the rights of children and adolescents. And above all, the most important right of all: the right to be the protagonists of their own history in an environment of love and well-being.
The institution’s job is to ensure that girls and boys receive all the protection, care and education they need for their development. In the case of adolescents and young people, we put the emphasis on preparing them to realize a personal life project that begins with a successful transition to independent living.
On December 1, 1997, the Villa Infantil Jesús y Dolores Martinez, IAP was legally established. It bears this name in honor of Jesús and Dolores Martínez, parents and parents-in-law of Isidro Martínez and his wife Milagros and uncles of Juan Manuel and Blanca Martínez, the family that made the donation of the institution’s first headquarters on Calle de 5 de mayo # 80, Colonia Centro. They were the sowers of the seed of this project.
In 1999 the legal donation of the property of the house in 5 de mayo # 80 street is done.
The first modifications were made and the house was formally opened to receive children between 3 and 12 years old.
On January 14, 2000 the first child is received at Villa Infantil Jesús y Dolores Martínez, I.A.P.
The 29 of September of 2000, the collapse of the roof of one of the main rooms left the house uninhabitable. The children were installed in another house. This accident lead what the Children’s Village is today.
In 2002, its founders, Mercedes Martínez Barragán and Ana Azuara Garete, who also currently hold the positions of president and vice-president, receive a donation from the municipal government of Querétaro. The 1500 m2 land was destinated to the construction of the new house at the current address: Portal de Samaniego no. 100, in San Pedrito Peñuelas.
In this period the new house was built. The architectural project was donated by Arch. Alejandro Maceda, who gave us his talent and that of his team to build a building adapted to the needs of girls, boys and adolescents.
The board of trustees is reorganized and the one that remains in force until today is installed.
After a great effort of fundraising and donations in kind we finally inaugurated the new Villa Infantil Jesús y Dolores Martínez, IAP, which that year welcomed 18 minors. In two years the Villa managed to expand its capacity to accommodate up to 40 children.
The need to generate different development spaces for children and adolescents was soon clear. In 2009 the project of the Villa for Young Kids was presented. The construction was possible because of the donation by the municipality of Querétaro of an area of 3252 m2, adjacent to the Children’s Village. But it was through the generosity of many donors, important companies, organizations and people in general that the edification of the building became a reality. In 2010, the federal government, through Sedesol, gives the Villa recognition for its performance in the Program for Strengthening and Professionalization.

The process of changing the intervention model begins. It’s main objective is to lead girls and boys and adolescents to achieve the fullfiment of their human rights within a process of personal empowerment and a successful transition to independent life.
We will finish the self-sustaining Ecological Garden Villa Infantil, whose objective is to provide the house with a natural space where children and adolescents can not only learn values of environmental protection, find a place of balance and connection with nature, but that also develop a productive project through the cultivation and selling of succulents.
To offer girls, boys and adolescents who have experienced abandonment, abuse or mistreatment a safe home and personalized accompaniment through a comprehensive care model that emphasizes the development of the potential of each individual that helps them build their own identity and establish the commitment of a personal project of independent living.
We are a benchmark social assistance center in Querétaro and at a national level where young people complete a stage of their lives and transition to independent life, being agents of change that contribute to the sustainable development of their community and generate a more just and equitable society.
• We serve with pride
• We foster with Responsibility
• We get involved with Empathy
• Provide the tools that allow the integral formation of girls, boys and adolescents through concrete actions whose ultimate goal is to live in a decent home, receive a quality education, develop their socio-emotional skills, promote their well-being and integral health until the transition to an independent life.
• Articulate a work methodology through a system of approach inspired by Jungian psychology in which the person recognizes the opportunity with which he has to know himself internally and thus, develop a sense of self-worth, belonging and empowerment.
Thanks to the efforts and generosity of our Board of Trustees, the Children’s Village is a reference both for its intervention model and for the success stories that, fortunately, we reap in the form of channeled lives. Thanks to all of them!
